Where is the Best Lighting at the Hillside Estate

Session Tips

The Hillside Estate is a stunning venue north of Dallas/Fort Worth Texas. As a Dallas Wedding Photographer, I have captured bridals and weddings at this gorgeous venue, and I have scouted out the spots with the BEST lighting for portraits!

Follow along as I show you my favorite areas at the Hillside Estate for the best lighting.

Indoor Locations for the Best Lighting at the Hillside Estate

The Chapel

One of my favorite locations to shoot at the Hillside Estate is the ceremony space, lovingly name The Chapel. With floor to ceiling windows, walking into this room is breathtaking! I love shooting with natural light, and this room is absolutely filled with it! The white walls and trim perfectly compliment the light and make this space the perfect spot for photos with the BEST lighting. I like to shoot first looks, private vows, and bride & groom portraits in here in addition to all the stunning ceremony pictures I get to capture!

The Bridal Suite

Photos of the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready is one of my favorite things to capture. It is such a special time before the big ceremony! The Hillside Estate has a stunning bridal suite that perfectly matches the luxurious feel the rest of the venue displays. The bridal suite has the best lighting for those detail shots, getting ready shots, and bridals before the ceremony. I love the windows that allow natural light to flood in!

The Hallway

This location may not be as obvious as others, but the Hillside Estate has a stunning hallway with large windows, white walls, gold chandeliers, and stunning white flooring that makes for the best lighting for photos! Whether it is the father of the bride’s first look or a moment with the bridesmaids, I love using this spot for photos. Also, this spot feels so intimate & sweet! The hall is so light & airy & unique, so I always add this location to my shooting list!

Outdoor Locations with the Best Lighting at the Hillside Estate

The Hillside

Yes, this special spot is where the venue received its name: The Hillside Estate. It is truly breathtaking. This location over looks a valley with beautiful trees and a waterfront view. It can be used as an outdoor ceremony, reception, or cocktail hour space. I love utilizing this overlook for bride & groom portraits because it has the best lighting, and take a look for yourself… I mean it is PERFECTION!

The Front of the Hillside Estate

With a venue as beautiful as the Hillside Estate, you absolutely have to shoot portraits in front of the venue! Not only does this location have the best lighting, it is a great way to document the venue for the couple’s gallery and memories for years to come. I like to choose a time on the wedding day when the front of the venue is in indirect sunlight to avoid harsh light, but still reap the benefits of the bright sunshine! Not to mention, the white stone of the building makes the perfect backdrop for a photo!

The Courtyard

Obviously, I love shooting outside in natural light! This area is perfect for cocktail hour or an outdoor reception or just pictures of the bride & groom or wedding party. It is such a unique part of the Hillside Estate and it has the best lighting, especially as the sun is setting! I love capturing my couples in the golden sunlight, so I try and sneak them out for a few portraits! The open views and character of this location make it one of my favorite spots to shoot!
