As a Dallas wedding photographer who takes LOTS of wedding photos, I always recommend that my brides do a bridal session prior to their wedding day. I’ve found that it allows for more wedding photos of the Bride & Groom and more wedding photo poses on wedding day! One of my favorite bridal session spots is at The Mason!

As photography became more common, bridals were captured by photo to be gifted to the brides family, the groom, and other family members. Today, your bridal portraits from your bridal session makes for great gifts on your wedding day. It allows for many wedding photo poses of you and your groom! Not to mention of just you! Your family members will cherish these pictures forever! On your wedding day, bridal portraits look beautiful displayed at your reception near the entrance, guest book, or cake table.

If you book your photographer exclusively for your wedding, the bridal session allows you to meet your photographer before your wedding day! You will go over wedding photo poses and learn how your photographer directs and poses you. We get the chance to connect and capture your bridal portraits before the busy big day. 2)Hair & Makeup Trial

The bridal session is basically a trial run of your look before your wedding day! Every bride wants to look and feel her absolute best on her wedding day. Booking a bridal session gives you the opportunity to try out your wedding hair and makeup beforehand. It is nice to see your full bridal look professionally photographed. This is my top reason for booking your bridal session prior to your wedding day: the schedule! Your wedding day is full of fun, special moments, and time with the people you love. Shooting the majority of your bridal portraits beforehand frees up time on your wedding day to spend time with your people, not worrying about pictures! When your big day comes, it is my job to capture every moment and your job to be stress free! After your bridal session, you have taken care of your portraits, tried out your hair and makeup, and spent time in your shoes and dress, now it’s time for fun!

5)Trying on Your Dress

The most special dress you will ever wear, your wedding dress! Booking a bridal session allows you another chance to wear your dress and see your bridal look all together! If need be, you have time for last minute alterations or changes to your accessories after you have seen your whole look in pictures. Maybe you want to do some different wedding photo poses that day! Go for it! Choosing between two pairs of earrings or whether or not to wear a blusher? Your bridal session lets you choose! It is also a great time to wear in your bridal shoes a bit before your wedding day!

6) Including Your People

Your bridal session is a great opportunity to include important people in your life. Bring them along for an intimate day capturing your portraits before the wedding! Bringing your mom, maid of honor, friends, relatives, or future mother in law can be a kind gesture and a great chance to spend quality time before your wedding day. Your people make you feel comfortable and at ease during your bridal session. Having their support is huge during this sweet season wedding festivities, bridal session included!

7) Lighting

As a wedding photographer, lighting is always on my mind! A bridal session allows you to shoot any time of day as there is no wedding timeline to abide by. If you are having a winter wedding, the short daylight hours can limit your natural light availability. By capturing your bridal portraits 1-2 months before your wedding, your photographer can help you choose the time best suited for photos. The race to capture your pictures before the sun goes down on your wedding day is gone, because your bridals have already been taken!
